The backdrop against which the events of "Castle" are seen, this is home to Beckett, Esposito and Ryan and permanent playground to Rick Castle. The 12th has had two captains so far whilst Castle has been running loose, Roy Montgomery and Victoria Gates.

• The 12th Precinct detective room was also the setting for the popular 70s sitcom Barney Miller. But that setting was much smaller and in a decrepit state, with the age and condition of the building used for a series of jokes.
