Ellie Monroe was a guest on Bobby Mann's late night TV show alongside Castle. She later hooked up with him in order to convince him to call his producer and recommend her for the role of Nikki Heat in the upcoming Hollywood movie (which he did).

After he found out that she had used him, he declined to withdraw his recommendation on the basis that she turned out to be an even better actress than he'd originally thought.
