Angela Candela is the 2-year-old biological daughter of Lucia Gomez and Juan Restrepo, but was put up for adoption. She was adopted by Theresa Candela and her husband, Alfred.
Angela was kidnapped by her aunt, Nina Mendola, with the help of her adopted mother, Theresa, to make her adopted father, Alfred, look bad so she (Theresa) could get full custody of Angela.
However, the attempted kidnapping was exposed when Richard Castle realised that Angela's kidnapper had taken Angela's favourite cuddly rabbit while abducting her, allowing them to confirm that the kidnapper had known Angela personally, and thus identify Nina as the only person outside the Candelas and their relevant babysitters whose alibi had not been confirmed.
Theresa was arrested for her actions, presumably along with Nina, and Angela was returned to Alfred, although it's unknown if she remained with him.
