Robert Pine is an American actor who plays Gerry Finnegan on Castle.

Born Granville Whitelaw Pine in New York (1941), he graduated pre-med from Ohio Wesleyan in 1963. Realizing that he didn't want to continue his education or become a doctor, Pine's college roommate suggested he go into acting.[1]

After signing a contract with Universal Studios in 1964, a representative of the studio suggested that he change his name, so Pine chose "Robert".[2] He married Gwynne Gilford in 1969, and has two children, Katherine Pine and Chris Pine.

Robert Pine began his early career mostly on television. He guest starred in Lost in Space, The Lucy Show, Bonanza, and Charlie's Angels. But he is most well known for playing "Sgt. Joseph Getraer" on CHiPs from 1977 - 1983. After the end of the series, he continued on episodic television with MacGyver, Murder, She Wrote, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise, as well as portraying "Stephen Logan" on the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful.

In addition to his television work, Pine also was featured in several movies, including Empire of the Ants, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, and Independence Day.
